The world’s ‘first designer’ low energy light bulb

Launched at the London Design Festival in September 2010 and expected to make a splash in 2011 is the Plumen light bulb, described as the world’s first designer low energy light bulb. It’s makers hope that it will bring some creativity into the low energy lighting market.

As you would expect this new bulb come with a designer price tag, £19.95 per bulb.  This compares with just £5.01 for an equivalent 11W spiral Megaman bulb.

At the moment orders are on hold due to demand but it is expected that the 11W screw bulb will become part of a range of unusual shaped lights.
