London start-up Beeline have launched a new cycling navigation app for your bike’s handlebar that is perfect for getting to know your city.
Beeline was started as a Kickstarter campaign in 2015, and was so successful raised the funds requested within just three days.
The device is a simple navigation aide, that acts like a compass, pointing the way to your destination. The beauty of the device is that it doesn’t provide turn-by-turn directions like a satnav but instead leaves the exact route upto you.
It works best in an urban environment, where knowing the direction is often sufficient to get to where you want to go. It encourages you to not necessarily take the fastest route, but to take the streets that appeal the most as you cycle them. For instance, a commuter can explore different routes whilst still being able to reach their destination.
The device works in-conjunction with the Beeline phone app. The rider enters the destination using the app, can set waypoints and can view journeys.
